RoboDK running very slowly and maxing out GPU

#1
我是working on using RoboDK Educational for 3d printing projects, but after modeling the robot, extruder, and workspace I am using, the entire software is running extremely slow. If I try to move the viewpoint, for example, I might be lucky to get 5 frames per second and I often see that RoboDK is using 100% of the GPU.

The lag also applies to online programming. If I send the robot a program, it will run a single instruction, pause for several seconds, run the next instruction, and so on.

I don't understand why this is happening, especially since this is running on a Core i7 with 32GB of RAM and an Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti.

If I try with a new workstation with just the robot, it runs normally. What could be causing the issue, especially the 100% GPU usage? I can provide the .RDK files I am working with if that helps. Thank you!

Hi smorr057,

You should take a look at these sections of the online documentation :
//www.sinclairbody.com/doc/en/General.html#ImportSTEPIGES
//www.sinclairbody.com/doc/en/General.html#FastFPS

Have a good day.

Jeremy,

Changing the display settings and simplifying objects seems to be helping a lot, you're a lifesaver! I am using STL files, do they undergo the "fast import" settings too?

Hi smorr057,

I believe so but I'll need to confirm it.
You should try with STEP and IGES to see if there is an improvement.

I usually don't get the best results when I personally use .STL file.
